Projects to note:
Our RIBA award winning “New House”, Hadlow Down in East Sussex
BBM were commissioned in 2008 to develop a sustainable master plan for this country estate. The project comprises the redevelopment of a derelict 1940’s dairy into a new heated swimming pool, the retrofitting of a Grade II Listed 19th Century oast house and the development of a new country house set in 275 acres of Wealden countryside.
BBM worked closely with the client to create a new 150m2 two-storey dwelling containing three bedrooms which provides a substantial living space. The dwelling is entered at ground floor level on to a generous entrance hall with a feature wrap over eaves roof light. The ‘L shaped” kitchen/living/dining area is accessed by way of a glazed door coming off the entrance hall as is a ground for w.c. and utilities room. Bi-fold glazed doors wrap around the south west corner of the ground floor opening up the kitchen living space to the garden.
Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) and Photovoltaic technologies along with a highly insulated building fabric and under floor heating were chosen to help lower the energy bills and create a very energy efficient dwelling.
